Unisys to support software factories with 3D visible enterprise blueprints.

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) has said that it would make its catalog of 3D Visible Enterprise (3D-VE) blueprints available in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System.

By integrating its platform-independent 3D-VE blueprints with the tooling offered by Microsoft Corp. in Visual Studio 2005 Team System, Unisys is backing an industry-driven approach to software development that enables organizations to streamline how they develop solutions.

"We support the Software Factory approach to development and, through our 3DVE methodology, we will help shape the evolution of this important industry effort," said Fred Dillman, vice president of technology and architecture at Unisys. "3D-VE gives companies a holistic view into the cause-and-effect relationships between shifts in technology, business processes and strategy."

"Microsoft is pleased that Unisys will integrate its 3D-VE blueprints into Visual Studio Team System," said Rick LaPlante, general manager of the Visual Studio Team System group at Microsoft. "By integrating with Team System now, Unisys is providing our mutual customers with customized visual design tools for vertical solutions, and is preparing them for the Software Factory approach to development."

Unisys is among the first organizations to support Visual Studio 2005 Team System from Microsoft. Unisys will integrate its complete 3D-VE framework with Visual Studio Team System, combining the efficiencies of Microsoft's environment with the robust modeling capabilities of 3D-VE. Unisys will also support the movement of models between Visual Studio and Eclipse environments, providing clients with total flexibility in their choice of vendor platforms.

Unisys has also built designers to support various domain-specific modeling languages that are crucial components in the software development lifecycle. Specifically, Unisys has built a modeling tool in Visual Studio Team System 2005 called the "Business Rules Modeler."

The Microsoft and Unisys alliance delivers enterprise customers unsurpassed expertise in the development, deployment and management of end-to-end Microsoft Windows solutions resulting in high total ownership satisfaction and value. The alliance combines Microsoft's technology and Unisys deep heritage of expertise in the mission critical enterprise environment to deliver complete solutions for business critical computing, including integrated platforms, powerful vertical applications and comprehensive global services.
