).

Administered by the Pennsylvania State Police, the CCHRI lets the Pennsylvania State Police disseminate criminal history data and information to criminal justice agencies, non-criminal justice agencies and individuals on request. Pennsylvania Governor Mark Schweiker recently stated his commitment to further improve Pennsylvania's safety and security. The modernization modernization

"With public safety and security being of utmost importance, it is imperative that Pennsylvania has a fully integrated criminal information system that allows for efficient record-sharing among law enforcement, government and the public," said Colonel Paul J. Unisys will integrate three separate systems into one -- the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History System (PATCH), a Unisys e-Workflow imaging system, and a new and improved criminal history application. Another major component of this project is the migration of the criminal history application from its legacy system state to an open systems-based environment. Unisys also provides the message switch solution that powers the statewide Pennsylvania law enforcement network, enabling state and local law enforcement to access information at the state level, at the FBI, in the other 49 states, Canada and Interpol. The new CCHRI and the existing statewide message switch provided by Unisys for the Pennsylvania State Police provide two essential components for Pennsylvania's law enforcement and security operations.

"Unisys understands the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's mission to ensure the safety and security of its citizens," said Kevin Curry, vice president and general manager of Unisys North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  Public Sector. "Our experience in implementing justice and public safety solutions around the world allows us to help organizations like the Pennsylvania State Police to better utilize their criminal records."

The CCHRI system redesign represents Phase 2 of this initiative. Unisys completed Phase 1 earlier this year, which included the Requirements Definition and Detail Design efforts associated with the system. The CCHRI's information is often used as part of a background check by organizations such as day care operators and a variety of other employers.
