Unisys and Microsoft Team up to Provide Integrated Justice and Domestic Security Solutions.

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Today, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Unisys Corp. (NYSE:UIS) announced they will work together to provide solutions for the integrated justice and domestic security market. Microsoft has selected Unisys as a lead go-to-market partner focused on information sharing and analysis extending into the homeland security and emergency management domain.

As part of this agreement, Unisys will further integrate Microsoft technology into the Unisys information sharing management (ISM) framework which is based on Unisys innovative 3D-Visible Enterprise methodology. This methodology provides comprehensive visibility into all the links and interdependencies within an operation, from business strategy to IT infrastructure.

The flexibility and scalability of the Unisys ISM framework allows government agencies to access any data source and extend information-sharing across an entire justice and domestic security network. This includes information on potential terrorists and threats to domestic security which may come from sources such as federal and state homeland security agencies, state driver's license registries, or professional license registries. The system ensures that the government entities can leverage security as an asset for positive change.

Unisys is recognized as a market leader in providing domestic security solutions and services to more than 1,500 government agencies world wide and has partnered with more than 300 justice agencies to improve public safety and domestic security. The Unisys ISM framework also can be used to help coordinate the planning, preparation, response and recovery from large-scale incidents or disasters by solving one of the most pressing problems that arises during disaster response Co the inability to share information across incompatible emergency management systems operated by neighboring jurisdictions.

The Unisys ISM framework is fully compliant with recognized information and data exchange standards, including the Justice XML Data Dictionary and Justice Information Exchange Model (JIEM). The Unisys ISM framework also leverages the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) Data Reference Models (DRM) and service oriented architecture (SOA) standards as well as management systems standards developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Legacy systems can become part of a standards-compliant information exchange network without costly replacement or redesign.
