Unisys Selects Lumidigm to Develop Anti-Spoofing Optical Deep Tissue Biometric Sensor for Detecting Live Tissue.

Lumidigm, Inc., a New Mexico-based company that has developed a new biometric method of identifying people based on optical skin tissue measurements, has been awarded a development contract by Unisys Corporation (company) Unisys Corporation - The company formed in 1984-5 when Burroughs Corporation merged with Sperry Corporation. This was when the phrase "dinosaurs mating" was coined. . This contract is in support of a Research and Development Task Order Unisys has with the Department of Defense for Biometrics R&D Support. Lumidigm will use its technology (LumiGuard(TM)) to develop an anti-spoofing sensor (LumiSure(TM)) for measuring liveness and other properties of live human tissue. The targeted application of the LumiSure technology will be to integrate the sensor with fingerprint and hand geometry Hand geometry is a biometric that identifies users by the shape of their hands. Hand geometry readers measure a user's hand along many dimensions and compare those measurements to measurements stored in a file.  sensors to reduce or eliminate the potential of fraud using artificial methods. Lumidigm is scheduled to deliver the first prototype sensor during the first quarter 2004.
