"This Terminal 3 (T3) project is a key national project and is one of China's Olympic projects. Systems integration is vital for the success of the project and we are very pleased to have appointed Unisys. They have the proven SI capability and experience to be the Master Systems Integrator for this - the largest scale, most advanced and modern international airport hub in China," said Mr. Chen Guo Xing, chief commander of BCIA Expansion Project Headquarters.

The new terminal will double the airport's passenger capacity from 27 million to 60 million. This expansion will allow for the more than several million additional visitors expected to travel to Beijing for the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic games. As part of this project, Unisys will provide and implement the airport's Ground Operations Information System, which will be based on the Unisys Central Integrated Information Management System (CIIMS CIIMS Canadian Image and Information Management Society ).

The CIIMS solution provides real time information about flight arrivals and baggage delivery, while centralizing accounting and other airport functions. CIIMS integrates information flows from systems around the airport, collating and storing data in a central airport database -- Unisys Airport Operations Management solution (AOM AOM Academy of Management

"Beijing airport will secure its spot as mainland China's largest airport, and reach a new milestone in service and operational standards, with the international terminal and IT systems," said Olivier Houri houri (h`rē, hou`–) [Arab.,=black-eyed], one of the beautiful maidens said by some Muslims to dwell in paradise for the enjoyment of the faithful. , president, Unisys Global Transportation. "Our systems integration, project management and domain expertise are helping China's airports -- both Beijing Capital and Guangzhou Baiyun, which opened in August 2004 -- meet the increased demand of the region's growing air travel industry."

As the Master Systems Integrator, Unisys will integrate more than 50 IT systems that will be implemented by various contractors. Unisys will also use its 3D Visible Enterprise foundation, which provides a blueprint of the business' processes, to assist BCIA executives to understand current and future operations of the airport. This analysis will also provide Beijing airport's management with a clear view of the interrelations between the systems, processes and strategy designed to meet the airport's business goals.
