Last month Unisys received a NASA SEWP II contract to provide general purpose workstations (Class seven). The competitively awarded SEWP II networking products contract is a fixed price, single award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ IDIQ Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (contracting/procurement) ) contract for one-year, with three one-year options.

It has an estimated value of $200 million. The two SEWP II contracts have a potential value to Unisys of $250 million.

Under SEWP II for networking, Unisys will tap the leading vendors in the field to provide a wide range of competitively priced networking products, services and solutions such as ATM switches, routers, hubs, telemetry systems, network management software, analyzers and testers, network interface cards, network integration, and worldwide delivery and support.

Some of the key suppliers to Unisys are: 3Com Corp.; Bay Networks Inc.; Cabletron Systems; Cisco Systems Inc.; FORE Systems Inc.; Fibronics International; Interphase Corp.; Madge Networks Inc.; Network General Corp.; Newbridge Networks Inc.; SunSoft; TSI Telsys Inc.; Timeplex Federal Systems Inc.; and Whittaker/Xyplex Inc.

Unisys FSD was rated number one in customer satisfaction by NASA in the SEWP I contract. Unisys received $70 million in orders in the SEWP I networking contract and was one of the first vendors to implement Electronic Data Interchange See EDI.

The use of EDI is mandatory for all SEWP II orders. NASA has made SEWP one of the leading automated purchasing vehicles in government, stipulating that all product catalogs, orders, contract modifications, and other interactions be handled using EDI and the Internet.

"SEWP II for networking builds on the extremely successful SEWP I networking contract," said Joseph Santamaria, vice president and general manager, Information Technologies, Unisys Federal Systems Division. "We are offering the latest networking technologies from the leading companies in the field -- at very competitive prices."

The NASA SEWP II program consists of twelve prime contracts and five 8A contracts providing UNIX UNIX
