This single function leverages the unique variational modeling abilities of I-DEAS to create surfaces that capture and preserve the user's design intent without requiring intermediate construction geometry. Competitive systems force the user through tedious creation of drive curves and other guiding geometry without capturing design intent, while Variational Sweep captures drive geometry from existing parts and automatically preserves the relationships among the input geometry as an integral part of the construction process.
