Unique Visits to United Dominion Web Site Surpasses One Million in 2006.

RICHMOND, Va. -- United Dominion Realty Trust (NYSE:UDR) announced today that 1.1 million unique visitors went to its website in 2006, up 71% from 2005. Nearly 60% of those visits were the result of organic search engine referrals. Users searched phrases such as "apartment for rent" or "apartments" to assist in finding an apartment. United Dominion's focus on Internet lead-generation for new residents is a cost-effective, user-friendly way for apartment shoppers to visit UDR communities online and learn about community amenities and rental rates as well as apply for and reserve a home.

"Technology is transforming the way prospective residents shop for and select apartments," stated Martha Carlin, Executive Vice President, Property Operations. "Currently 36% of our leasing is done via the Internet, up 20% from last year. Our long-range goal is to obtain and process 90% of our leases on the Internet. We have implemented a myriad of innovative changes to lead the way in this area and continue to enhance our web presence and focus on ways to make doing business with us easy for our customers."

Prospective residents can take virtual tours of the communities, fill out an online apartment application and be screened for credit from the Company's website, www.udrt.com. The Company continues to increase the number of online apartment reservations which topped over 33,000 in 2006. In the fourth quarter, the Company posted a time-elapsed video of a kitchen and bath makeover to its website to emphasize the dramatic improvements being made to thousands of its kitchens and baths.
