Union Carbide.Union Carbide will double ethylidenenorbornene capacity in a series of modemization projects set for completion in 1998. The first phase of the expansion will raise capacity by 40% at the company's Institute, WV plant, and is scheduled for completion by year-end 1996. ENB is used in the production of ethylene propylene propylene /pro·pyl·ene/ (pro´pi-len) a gaseous hydrocarbon, CH3CHdbondCH2. propylene glycol a colorless viscous liquid used as a humectant and solvent in pharmaceutical preparations. diene Dienes are hydrocarbons which contain two double bonds. Dienes are intermediate between alkenes and polyenes. Classes Dienes can be divided into three classes:
(EPDM EPDM Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer EPDM Enterprise Product Data Management EPDM Ethylene Propylene Dimonomer (industrial/commercial piping/plumbing components) EPDM Engineering Product Data Management ). Union Carbide also announced it is expanding the capacity of its less cyclical Specialties & Intermediates segment by about two billion pounds, or nine percent a year, in the period 1994-96. In addition, capital projects, acquisitions and share of joint ventures will add 5.5 billion pounds of capacity to Carbide's Basic Chemicals & Polymers segment by the year 2000. They will also add nearly four billion pounds of ethylene capacity to support the growth in both segments. |
