System: UNFY), a leading provider of software for the development and deployment of business application solutions, today announced the immediate availability of ACCELL(R)/Web. A new product in the Unify ACCELL solutions suite, ACCELL/Web allows customers to create fully functional Web applications from their existing ACCELL/SQL-based applications with little or no changes to their original application code.

"ACCELL/Web is expressly designed for our customers seeking to transform ACCELL/SQL applications into dynamic Web applications without having to re-engineer their original application," said Dave Glende, vice president of products and CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. See CIO and salary survey.  of Unify. "ACCELL/Web provides the fastest way to take these enterprise applications to browser-based computing and the Internet, thereby helping customers streamline business processes and save thousands in immediate and on-going development costs."

The cost savings in using ACCELL/Web stems from the automatic application conversion and runtime functionality included with the product. Applications containing hundreds or even thousands of forms are converted in minutes using ACCELL/Web and can be deployed in a matter of days or weeks. Additionally, the ACCELL/Web and ACCELL/SQL applications share the same source code base, minimizing customers' business risks as well as on-going maintenance costs.

Combining the best of existing business logic and new technologies, ACCELL/Web acts as a bridge between ACCELL/SQL-based applications and the Java platform Running Java programs under the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Java "platform" refers to the running of Java programs versus Java itself, which is a programming language. Java programs are machine independent and run intact on any hardware platform that has a Java interpreter (JVM). . Using Java 2 Enterprise Edition Platform (J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems. ) technologies, ACCELL/Web translates ACCELL/SQL forms into JavaServer Pages(TM) (JSP (JavaServer Page) An extension to the Java servlet technology from Sun that allows HTML to be combined with Java on the same page. The Java provides the processing, and the HTML provides the layout on the Web page. ) which can then be further enhanced and customized using JavaScript, HTML HTML

and the ACCELL/Web Class Library. The generated JSP-based forms feature full Web application functionality that is virtually identical to that of the original ACCELL/SQL application, thereby eliminating costly end-user retraining re·train

Unify eWave Engine provides the required Web server integration, as well as the capabilities necessary to drive and manage the dynamic Web content and end-user interaction.
