Unicru and USIS/DAC Services Align to Provide Customized Screening and Hiring Process for the Trucking Industry.

Business Editors

PORTLAND, Ore. & TULSA, Okla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2004

Alliance uniquely addresses the screening and hiring needs

of US carriers

United in their focus to address the unique business challenges of carriers, Unicru(R) Inc. and USIS/DAC Services announced today a strategic alignment which provides an integrated application, screening and hiring process for the trucking industry.

The two companies have incorporated Unicru's Total Workforce Acquisition

solution, which streamlines the application and hiring process, with USIS' proprietary Employment History File, containing information on more than five million commercially licensed drivers. USIS/DAC Services will also offer access to the Commercial Drivers License Information System (CDLIS CDLIS Commercial Driver's License Information System ), as well as provide carriers with DOT-related background checks.

As a result of this collaboration, trucking organizations are able to combine all background checks to reduce the time involved in hiring, while ensuring that proper procedures are followed across the organization. Both benefits are increasingly important as carriers face a shrinking labor pool.

"The driver shortage, coupled with new hours of service rules are pressing issues for carriers," said Chris Marsh Christopher "Chris" Marsh (born 14 January 1970), was a British footballer who is best remembered for his time with Walsall football club. He signed from them on leaving school in the summer of 1986 and quickly established himself in the first team. , Unicru president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Working with more than 90 percent of top carriers, we recognize the cost of a bad hire," said Jim Collins, USIS Commercial Services President. How Does It Work?

This DOT-compliant, pre-packaged method ultimately guides Unicru and USIS joint clients to the best candidates for open positions, while minimizing hiring and insurance costs and the negative business effects of a bad hire. The Unicru Trucking Solution allows job candidates to complete an electronic, paperless application using an on-site computer or other Internet connection. The application includes custom-designed application questions and specially designed assessments for attributes such as safety that are unique to the carrier's business and the position applied for. Upon completion, each applicant's response is immediately transmitted to Unicru's secure database where the information is processed and evaluated against criteria derived from previous successful employees. While the application is processed and assessments are scored by Unicru, the appropriate USIS checks are performed (e.g. CDL 1. CDL - Computer Definition anguage. A hardware description language. The hiring manager can use a Web desktop to review the USIS pre-hire check summaries, as well as an easy-to-read completed application form and a candidate report recommending follow-up interview questions. Hiring managers will only consider interviewing applicants that have passed this initial phase of the hiring process. Following the interview or offer, additional background check services from USIS -- such as a reference check or employment verification -- can be automatically generated from the Web desktop depending upon the position applied for and the company's individual hiring workflow.

Other Unicru, USIS Opportunities

In addition to opportunities in the trucking industry, Unicru and USIS have collaborated to provide workforce selection systems catering to the retail industry. Unicru integrates its Total Workforce Acquisition solution with the USIS background screening tools to offer a streamlined, controlled hiring process.
