The SMT software, part of its UniPay line of products, will be available through SMT and its business partners, transaction processors, and IBM Value Added Resellers (VAR's). The SMT system will work with the IBM platform card readers and printers, and can interface to other peripheral devices such as Personal Identification Number (PIN), Entry Pads, Check Readers, Smart Card Readers and Electronic Signature Pads. This system also supports a second optional back-up Local Area Network (LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area.
