Unico Appoints Kenneth R. Brown President; Will Oversee Gold/Silver Production At the Deer Trail Mine.

MARYSVALE, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2002

UNICO Inc. (OTCBB:UNCN), is pleased to announce the promotion of Kenneth R. Brown from vice president to president of UNICO Inc. Mr. Brown's chief responsibilities will be the management of UNICO's metals production facility at the Deer Trail Mine in Marysvale, Utah. Brown will also serve as chief operations officer and as a director of the Company.

Mr. Ray Brown, current chief executive officer and former president of UNICO, will stay on as chairman of the Board and as CEO.

During the past year, Kenneth Brown, because of his long-time familiarity with the development of the Deer Trail Mine and Mill, has been increasingly needed to assist with the completion and operation of the mill. According to UNICO CEO, Ray Brown, "We've been anticipating the day when the mill would be far enough along to ask Ken to make a full-time move to Marysvale. Since we have a crew of miners in the Deer Trail Mountain, men working our gold processing machinery, and geologists sampling ore, we need a full-time man to keep us organized and running smoothly. Ken is the right man for the job. He is a brilliant problem solver, used to exacting work and well versed in organization skills. Kenneth Brown was formerly employed as a broadcast engineer for USA Broadcasting and for E! Entertainment Television. He was responsible for technical management of digital/analog broadcast equipment in the Los Angeles main studios. He was formally trained in electronic technology at Utah Technical College, Salt Lake City, Utah. He studied Computer Programming at Chappman University, Edwards, California. He has had other technical training with AT&T Data Transmission, MCSS Secure Telephone Switching.
