Unicent Technologies Merges with PC Importers

Introduces new line of Extreme systems based on AMD processors

AURORA, Ohio, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Unicent Technologies announced today that it has merged with PC Importers, Inc. The announcement comes on the heels of Unicent's introduction of its Extreme class of personal computers based solely on AMD processor technology. While Unicent and PC Importers have co-existed under the same ownership, operations, marketing and management have been separate. Now, with the incorporation of PC Importers into Unicent, Unicent hopes to be able to more fully concentrate its R&D, production and marketing efforts. "We are pleased to have made this a reality," said Alexander Bederman, CEO of Unicent Technologies. "We can now more fully focus ourselves on our product offerings and our customers."

Unicent will now offer customers three distinct product lines. The Avanta class of personal computers, based on Intel processors; the Extreme class of personal computers, based on AMD processors; and the Voyager class of Notebook PC's. "This is a very exciting time at Unicent," said Frank Ramsay, Director of Marketing for Unicent. "I see this as a win-win situation for Unicent and our customers. We will now be able to consolidate our company resources, cut inefficiencies and become more responsive to the vast changes within our industry."

The incorporation of PC Importers into Unicent will not affect any customers who have purchased from PC Importers in the past. "Unicent will honor all warranties and support agreements we have made with our customers," said Bederman.

The merger paves the way for Unicent to market its Extreme class of personal computers. Unicent Extreme systems feature AMD processors, including the new AMD K6-2 with 3Dnow! technology starting at just $899. Prior to the consolidation, AMD based systems were only available through PC Importers. "The Extreme class will now incorporate all the cutting-edge technology, high performance and value traditionally associated with the Unicent brand," said Ramsay, "customers will see a tremendous improvement in system quality and reliability as a result of this merger."
