Dr Ciaran Ewins of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology stresses the course is not the first year of a traditional science degree. It is a stand-alone course which prepares students for employment with IT, lab and communication skills.
The university is running a series of taster taster /tast·er/ (tas´ter) an individual capable of tasting a particular test substance (e.g., phenylthiourea, used in genetic studies). courses in June.
Pupils taking part will have guaranteed entry to the applied science course as long as their school provides a positive recommendation.
