Uni chosen for STEM scheme.

THE University of Birminghamhas been chosen to take part in a major initiative to promote science, technology, engineering and maths throughout England and Wales England and Wales are both constituent countries of the United Kingdom, that together share a single legal system: English law. Legislatively, England and Wales are treated as a single unit (see State (law)) for the conflict of laws. .

It is one of six partner universities that will develop and initiate activities in their regions as part of the Higher Education STEM Programme.

The pounds 21 million initiative, funded by the Higher Education Funding Councils for England and Wales, will see the Universities of Bath, Bradford Bradford, city, England
Bradford, city (1991 pop. 293,336) and metropolitan district, N central England, on a small tributary of the Aire River. It is a center of the worsted industry, which dates from the Middle Ages.
, Manchester Metropolitan, Southampton and Swansea act as a focus for regional activities aimed at engaging local workforces in higher education.
