Uni Charm to construct hygiene facility.

Japanese hygiene product manufacturer Uni Charm has revealed plans for a large-scale plant for the manufacture of diapers and feminine hygiene products. With construction scheduled to begin in April, 1994, the site, located in the Fukushima Prefecture, is expected to be in commercial production by April, 1995. A subsidiary company has been set up by Uni Charm to oversee the control and administration of the new site. At present, Uni Charm has a large manufacturing presence in western Japan, but only minor plants in eastern Japan; the new facility is aimed at securing a larger manufacturing base in the eastern part of the country.
