Cash registers have joined the ringing phones in cellular phone company Unefon's ears. With a 127% increase in investments over 2001 ,the 2002 investments brought 158,000 new users, boosting the total number of Unefon subscribers to 360,000. Their fourth quarter investments of 976.3 million pesos represented an increase of 18% over the previous three months.

and Verbier Communications. BSE, valued at US$180 million, will become part of America Movil's Brazilian subsidiary Telecom Americas. BSE has a coverage population of 29.5 million, and this purchase brings America Movil's total coverage population to 139.5 million, approximately 82% of Brazil's population. America Movil is a subsidary of Telefonos Mexicanos (Telmex).
