Playfully mischievous: a roguish grin. mageborn, and is immediately branded as a demon-smuggler by the High Mage. His songster mentor Ronan Tey has transferred a powerful song to Alaric, a song that can unlock the power of the Dark. The blood mage Tane killed Ronan, and now kidnaps Alaric--with the use of a demon--in order to gain access to the key song. Fortunately, Alaric has support from his mentor's love and her apprentice. Even the intimidating in·tim·i·date tr.v. in·tim·i·dat·ed, in·tim·i·dat·ing, in·tim·i·dates 1. To make timid; fill with fear. 2. To coerce or inhibit by or as if by threats. demon is willing to help Alaric because Tane is so disrespectful dis·re·spect·ful adj. Having or exhibiting a lack of respect; rude and discourteous. dis re·spect of the demon. And the demon loves Alaric's music. Whom should Alaric trust? Several characters are not as they first seem, as Alaric finds out after a few disasters. The plot has interesting twists and turns, and several characters grow in this fantasy tale, so the reader feels compelled to continue to pursue the story. A few details are a bit confusing or contradictory, but the overall tale works. The reader will want to look for the second book in this series. Or. Lesley Farmer, Lib.
