They do it better in Europe, as we know: Euro LGBTs have their own bevy of warm-weather hot spots that are mostly unvisited by gay Americans. Our roundup of where you'll want to vacation next summer with the out crowd:

Gran Canaria--One of Spain's Canary Islands (off the western coast of North Africa), where you'll find a huge gay nightlife scene centered around Maspalomas, Palm Springs-style male resorts, and a massive gay beach culture to boot.

Lesbos--The Greek island that gave lesbians their name is, not surprisingly, a mecca for gay women, with mellow beachside cafes and pumping all-girl scenes, all amid bucolic Mediterranean scenery and a tolerant populace.

Sylt--This thin, flat island off the northernmost coast of Germany in the North Sea offers a chic, affluent gay scene with nude beaches amid 100foot-tall sand dunes, thatched-roof buildings, and quaint gay guesthouses.

Brighton--This artsy, beachy seaside spot on England's southern coast has been a queer getaway for centuries. Expect throngs of out college kids, innumerable gay cafes, and in late July the largest free pride festival in the United Kingdom.

Sitges--About a half hour south of very queer Barcelona lies another gay corner of Spain: this romantic isle with gay beaches, a maze of narrow streets, art nouveau mansions, and a busy yet laid-back vibe.
