Gary Daniels, senior vice president and general manager of Motorola's Microcontroller Technologies Group, Ultratech exemplifies the partnership approach the company looks for in its suppliers.

"Ultratech delivered all of the steppers we purchased during 1994 on or ahead of schedule. This efficiency allowed our factories to speed the adoption of emerging technologies in response to rising product demand," noted Daniels. "They placed both field service and applications engineers on site to ensure that MOS 2 and MOS 3 objectives were met."

In addition to naming Ultratech Supplier of the Year, MOS 2 and MOS 3 recognized Max Plank, Ultratech's central region service manager, extending to him the MOS 3 Appreciation Award for the third quarter of 1994 -- the first such award ever presented to a non-Motorola employee.

Larry Pederzani, MOS 3 operations manager, presented Plank with the award in recognition of his untiring efforts and diligence in supporting Ultratech equipment at the fab site.

Commenting on both accolades, Daniel Berry, Ultratech's senior vice president, sales and service, noted that Motorola's awards endorse his company's philosophy of providing complete lithography solutions to its customers. "We're very pleased to have received such tangible symbols of our success in meeting two common goals: quality products and service," stated Berry.
