Ultrast LLC to Present at Medtech Insight's 'Investment In Innovation' Boston Conference.

BOSTON -- Ultrast LLC has announced that it will be presenting at 2:40pm on Monday, October 10, 2005 at Medtech Insight's "Investment In Innovation (In3) BOSTON: A Preview of Early-Stage Medical Technology Companies" Conference, taking place October 10-11, 2005 at The Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston, MA.

Ultrast's focus is the development of gynecologic medical devices for use in diagnostic imaging. Ultrast's initial product (UltrastHystero) is a unique phase-shifting media (PSM) which allows high definition uterine ultrasound examinations to be performed in a simple, cost effective manner.

UltrastHystero is designed to improve diagnostic uterine ultrasounds making hysterosonographic (HySo) quality available to the physician, simplifying the procedure and making it cost effective. UltrastHystero when instilled in the uterus, moderately distends the cavity and provides a negative ("black") contrast to enhance visualization of pathologies, such as endometrial polyps and/or sub-mucosal fibroids. Due to its characteristics, UltrastHystero liquefies within 10 minutes and is physiologically expelled. We call these HySo-like images obtained with regular ultrasound like simplicity -- "contrast ultrasound."

UltrastHystero is prepared in sterile, single-use syringes ready to use. The time needed to instill UltrastHystero is less than one minute and the procedure can be performed immediately afterwards. Thus, contrast ultrasound using UltrastHystero becomes as simple as standard vaginal ultrasound without the need for unwieldy or time-consuming efforts. UltrastHystero has been clinically studied and was found to be safe, and effective in providing the uterine interface for contrast vision.

The target audience for marketing UltrastHystero is gynecologists and radiologists. The use of uterine ultrasound examinations is broad in the U.S., with over 12 million procedures performed yearly, growing at 5% annually. Approximately 6% (720,000) of these were HySo procedures. The fact that HySo is currently cumbersome is a prime deterrent to its widespread use.

The availability of UltrastHystero should convert a significant percentage of the current 720,000+ HySo procedures. More importantly, we expect that the ease of use of our PSM will allow physicians not currently doing HySo (11.5MM+ procedures) to benefit from improved imaging quality (contrast vision) by using UltrastHystero in a progressively larger number of procedures.

UltrastHystero has been shown to be safe and effective in providing temporary distention of the uterus to perform an ultrasound. We believe the PSM to be approvable as a device under the FDA de novo 510K process. We expect to market the PSM in the U.S. within 18 months after funding.
