The inaugural flight landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport Abu Dhabi International Airport (Arabic: مطار أبو ظبي الدولي) (IATA: AUH, ICAO: OMAA yesterday afternoon. Ukraine International Airlines President Yuri Miroshnikov told reporters in Abu Dhabi that the new route will offer two weekly flights with Boeing 737 aircraft. The flights are scheduled to depart from Kiev on Mondays and Fridays at 2.20pm, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 8.30pm. The flights from Abu Dhabi to Kiev will depart at 1.55am on Tuesdays and Saturdays, reaching Kiev at 6.45am. Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Adac) senior vice president for airport operations Ahmad Al Haddabi said, "The existing business and trade links between our two countries will be further served and facilitated by this new direct flight service." He said Ukraine International Airlines was the 48th airline to offer services from Abu Dhabi international airport. Miroshnikov said the flights will offer economy and business class seating with tickets starting at about Dh1,200 for a one way flight. "The new route to Abu Dhabi has been eagerly anticipated by business customers wishing to take advantage of the convenient new direct service, as well as leisure travellers looking to Abu Dhabi for a unique tourism destination," he added. "In the region, we have been flying to Dubai since 2005 and also operating seasonal flights to Kuwait. We are now thinking about starting flights to Doha and Bahrain as well," Miroshnikov said. Miroshnikov said a code sharing agreement signed in June with the Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad Airways Etihad Airways (Arabic: الإتحاد, ʼal-ʻitiħād) is the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates. Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. will enable them to offer routes beyond Abu Dhabi in the Middle East as well as outside the region. Currently, Ukraine International has a fleet of 19 Boeing 737 aircraft which fly to about 20 destinations in Europe and three in the Gulf. Al Haddabi said Abu Dhabi "received over 1.6 million tourists last year, and this number is expected to increase to an estimated three million per year by 2015."
