UV Robotics to work with military on UV-cure coatings.UV Robotics, LLC, Cleveland, OH, has been selected by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. ) and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL Noun 1. AFRL - a United States Air Force defense laboratory responsible for discovering and developing and integrating fighting technologies for aerospace forcesAir Force Research Laboratory U. One of the largest airport installations in the world, it is the air force's main research and development base, and the headquarters of the to help develop the use of UV-curable powder coatings for repainting military aircraft and support vehicles. The armed forces, seeking novel ways to reduce the "dry-to-fly" time associated with traditional coatings, have begun to experiment with rapid-cure UV coating technology. "We are proud to have been asked by SAIC and the AFRL to participate in this effort" says UV Robotics president, Paul Mills. The project is funded through a Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (DoD ESTCP ESTCP Environmental Security Technology Certification Program ) award that began in 2008 and is slated to continue through the year 2010. |
