UTILX Corporation Announces an Extension of an Exclusive Licensing Arrangement with Thomas &Betts.

KENT, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2000

UTILX Corporation (Nasdaq:UTLX UTLX Union Tank Car Company (rail car manufacturer) ) announced that it has executed an amendment to its exclusive license agreement with the Elastimold unit of Thomas &Betts (T&, Memphis, TN) for the manufacture and distribution of fluid injection caps. The agreement leaves T& as the exclusive manufacturer and UTILX as the exclusive distributor. The caps are a critical component in the delivery of UTILX's CableCURE(R) fluid treatment to improve the reliability of power cables. T& along with Dow Corning Dow Corning is a multinational corporation headquartered in Midland, Michigan, USA. Dow Corning specializes in silicon and silicone-based technology, offering more than 7,000 products and services. Dow Corning is equally owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning, Inc.  Corporation patented the fluid injection cap eight years ago. The amendment extends UTILX's worldwide exclusivity to use and distribute the patented technology through the patent expiration date Expiration Date

Over the 13 years of field experience, CableCURE(R) treatment has demonstrated 99.5% reliability.
