USGBC certifies green homes in Massachusetts.* The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC USGBC United States Green Building Council ) and Conservation Services Group (CSG CSG - constructive solid geometry ) have recognized a Cambridge, Mass., property as receiving a certified rating in the LEED for Homes pilot program. The site is the first LEED-certified home project in Massachusetts and the first multi-unit building in the country that meets the USGBC standards for sustainable design and construction. The property has also been designated an Energy Star-labeled home by CSG, a non-profit group that provides certification services for both LEED for Homes and the Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and (EPA's) Energy Star Homes programs in the Northeast.
