USFCC Teams with SMUD and SETRC to Conduct 'Powering the Future' Hands-On Fuel Cell Workshop for Educators Featuring Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Technology.

) on February 6th to conduct a one day workshop on Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Technology for middle and high school teachers. Over thirty educators attended the "Powering the Future: Energy Forum for Educators" workshop to learn from energy experts how educators and students can contribute to the energy solution.

Robert Wichert, Technical Director of the US Fuel Cell Council, assisted teachers in assembling a Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Car Kit and conducted various experiments with curriculum models that teachers can integrate into classroom activities. Each teacher also received a Hybrid Solar/Fuel Cell Car Kit and a California Fuel Cell Partnership The California Fuel Cell Partnership is a public-private partnership to promote hydrogen vehicles (including cars and buses) in California. It is notable as one of the first initiatives for that purpose undertaken in the United States.  teacher kit.

SETRC is an Education and Industry partnership formed to support technical educators and promote engineering and technology career paths. Facing the challenges of limited natural resources and ever-increasing energy demands, SETRC is actively promoting renewable energy Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight, wind, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, and hydroelectricity to biomass and biofuels for transportation.  education workshops to local educators and students. SETRC and SMUD are also sponsoring a Solar Car Sprint Competition for local area schools on May 15, 2004.
