USFAA Foundation receives grant.

The United States Field Artilelry Associaiation Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce it has received a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $2,500 for new contributions to the USFAA Foundation from the Lawton Community Foundation, Lawton, Oklahoma. The grant will be used to support scholarships for USFAA members and their immediate families. The new contributions must be completed by June 30, 2005.

"We are so pleased to have received this grant," says MG(R) Lee Baxter, President of the USFAA. "We just announced our endowment a few months ago, and with this matching grant from the Lawton Community Foundation, we will be able to reach our goal of helping our members and their families to attain the highest level of education and training much quicker."

The scholarship fund is a permanent endowment fund, which means that the fund's principal is invested for long-term growth and the fund's income is used, perpetuity">in perpetuity, to support the scholarship program. Unlike other charitable organizations, 100 percent of any tax-deductible donations goes directly to help deserving members. The entire fund's operating expenses, such as employees' salaries, office space, utilities, and other administrative costs, are borne by the Field Artillery Association.

The USFAA has been serving the Field Artillery Community since 1910. With more than 5,000 members worldwide, the purpose of the Association is to promote the Field Artillery; disseminate knowledge of military art and sciences with special attention to the role of the Field Artillery and fire support in warfare; and to foster and preserve the spirit and traditions of the Field Artillery. The Association has 78 active chapters worldwide as well as 111 Small Business and Corporate members.

The Lawton Community Foundation was established in 1999 to support the charitable interests and concerns of the people of the Lawton community and surrounding areas. The Lawton Community Foundation's unique endowment structure ensures that Lawton's cultural, artistic, educational and charitable work will have a strong and lasting source of funding from which future generations will benefit.
