USCS Forms Strategic Partnerships in Britain and Korea; Intelecable Solution Chosen by British Telecom and Leading Korean IT Company.

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 1997--USCS International, Inc. (NASDAQ:USCS) today announced that its CableData Inc. subsidiary has signed separate, strategic agreements to provide its Intelecable(R) customer management and open billing solution to British Telecom Cable TV Services, and to Cable and Telecommunications Co. Ltd. (CNT), the leading Korean IT company.

As part of a multi-year agreement, British Telecom (BT) has chosen Intelecable to replace the current in-house system at Westminster Cable, its wholly owned subsidiary, which currently supplies cable television service to the city of Westminster. BT Cable TV Services and USCS further announced an agreement to forge a long-term strategic business relationship in which USCS will provide support for new entertainment services over the next five years.

BT selected the Intelecable system, which is scheduled to be implemented in early 1998, to support Westminster Cable's planned provision of advanced digital video services, including Near-Video-On-Demand (NVOD).

USCS also announced a separate strategic partnership with the leading Korean IT company, Cable and Telecommunications Co. Ltd., which has agreed to a multi-year contract to utilize Intelecable in providing customer management services to the majority of the cable TV franchises in Korea. CNT will initially supply CATV billing services, and expects to offer multiple services such as paging, interactive, and Pay-Per-View over the next three years.

Intelecable has the scalability to support these multiple services, and its double-byte capability will enable translations to the Korean language, giving full National Language Support (NLS). Currently, the cable market in Korea is evenly shared by 53 system operators under the KCTA (Korean Cable Television Association).
