USCCB honours pro-homosexual rabbi.Washington, DC -- On September 2, 2005, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB USCCB - United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (Washington, DC)) released a statement by Dr. Eugene Fisher, its Associate Director for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs, praising the life of New York Rabbi Belfour Brickner, who died on August 29. Brickner was described in the USSCB news release as "one of the greatest American religious leaders of the second half of the twentieth century, a man of social vision and moral courage who never backed down from the good fight for the rights of others ... a great friend of Catholics and the Church." Unfortunately for the USCCB, their leaders were unaware that Rabbi Brickner was also a long-time crusader for abortion rights and homosexual rights; he was a founding member of NARAL NARAL - National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League). Brickner maintained that the human fetus was not a child and did not have a living soul. He also helped to draft the American Religious Declaration on Sexual Morality, Justice and Healing which upholds contraception, abortion and homosexual "rights", including the "right" to the blessing of same-sex unions, cradle-to-grave sex instruction and population control. In response to the USCCB press release, Randy Engel, Executive Director of the U.S. Coalition for Life stated that the U.S. bishops had to refute the release, fire those responsible for issuing the statement, issue an apology to the pro-life community and ensure that Dr. Fisher be removed from any advisory position to the Holy See. (He is currently a consultant to the Vatican's Commission for religious Relations with the Jews.) |
