PEPPERDINE at PORTLAND

Pepperdine (9-14, 4-4) update: The Waves finish their two-game trip to the Pacific Northwest tonight against Portland and need a victory to keep alive any hope of a winning season. Pepperdine lost 93-73 to Gonzaga on Thursday night as coach Paul Westphal moved Terrance Johnson and Jesse Pinegar back in the starting lineup. But the Waves have struggled to find any consistency and Westphal played Alex Acker and Derick Grubb a combined 59 minutes off the bench.

Portland (10-11, 4-4): Pepperdine easily dispatched the Pilots 97-88 last month in Malibu, and that was before junior forward Yakhouba Diawara returned after having his eligibility restored. But Portland has won two consecutive games and features explosive point guard Pooh Jeter, who is averaging 17.5 ppg.

CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  at UC IRVINE

CSUN (8-10, 4-6) update: The Matadors will try to win just their third road game of the season - and second in a row - after a 64-56 victory at Long Beach State on Thursday. Ian Boylan has scored at least 20 points in his past three games. Davin White had a season-best eight rebounds but also had seven turnovers.

UC IRVINE (9-10, 4-6) update: The Anteaters are in an unfamiliar situation, under .500 and in a four-way tie for fourth in the Big West Conference. Irvine has dropped four in a row, including a 64-52 loss to Pacific on Thursday. Adam Parada, who leads the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game, was held to one point against Pacific.
