Coach Henry Bibby Charles Henry Bibby (born November 24, 1949 in Franklinton, North Carolina) is a former professional basketball player and current assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  said he ``was not sure'' how long Trepagnier would be out, or when he would be reinstated to the team. According to sources, Trepagnier's suspension revolves around a trip he took to Las Vegas in late September with Fresno State guard Tito Maddox, who was a teammate of Trepagnier's at Compton High.

in the matter, so Friday's announcement caught some by surprise.

``(The suspension) is indefinite until we decide what we want to do,'' Bibby said.

Trepagnier declined comment Friday, referring questions to Bibby.

The immediate effect is Trepagnier will miss 15th-ranked USC's game against 18th-ranked Utah today in the Wooden Classic at the Pond in Anaheim. Trepagnier attended Friday's team workout at the Pond but did not play.

Maddox has been suspended from Fresno State's first five games, while the investigation continues.

USC's suspension of Trepagnier could be a precautionary measure, to make sure it doesn't forfeit any games in case it's discovered Trepagnier violated rules.

Trepagnier, a 6-foot-4 senior, has missed USC's first three games with a stress fracture stress fracture

His return has been highly anticipated by the Trojans. Earlier this week, forward Brian Scalabrine talked about the difference Trepagnier would make when he returned.

``He brings something no other player in the country does,'' Scalabrine said. ``And that is just being Jeff.

``Being active. Getting his hands on the ball. Blocking shots. He's a mixture between (Arizona's) Gilbert Arenas and Richard Jefferson.''

Last season, Trepagnier averaged 15.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and led the Pacific-10 Conference with 3.2 steals per game, which placed him ninth nationally. His 94 steals last season was a school record.

Freshman guard Desmon Farmer is expected to start in Trepagnier's place. Farmer has averaged 11 points and made six of 11 3-pointers in USC's first three games.
