USC SEASON-TICKET HOLDERS PAY THE PRICE FANS PAY MORE AND HAVE SEATS MOVED HIGHER.

Byline: MATTHEW KREDELL Staff Writer

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  basketball season-ticket holders are facing a 160-percent price increase at the Galen Center History
USC had planned to build an on-campus indoor arena for over 100 years. Before the Galen Center, USC basketball had been played at a variety of locations, including the neighboring Shrine Auditorium stage, the old Pan-Pacific Auditorium in the Fairfax District, and since
with additional donations required to keep the quality seats they had at the Sports Arena.

``I love my university, but they tend to put money in front of some fans that have been around a long time,'' said Larry Harris
For the game designer, see Larry Harris (game designer).

Larry Harris is currently the General Manager of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is the son of former National Basketball Association (NBA) coach, and current Dallas Mavericks Assistant Coach Del

It is a residential and beach community with an oil refinery and nearby factories that produce transportation and electrical equipment, computers, and pottery. , a season-ticket holder to men's basketball for about 35 years.

Harris paid $800 to renew his two season tickets, up from $500 last year, and his seats will move from the lower level to the upper deck.

To get the premium seats at the new arena, fans must pay the annual $2,500 for Cardinal and Gold membership, then a one-time Galen Founders' fee of between $2,500 and $10,000.

Out of the arena's 10,258 seats, 3,300 are set aside for Galen Founders. The cardinal seats require a $10,000 donation for the mid-center court aisle on the arena level. Gold seats are $7,500 for the aisles on each side of the cardinal seats, and are sold out.

Students have approximately 2,000 seats reserved behind the basket and underneath the glass skyline window. Harris said he knows some who decided not to renew their tickets because of the increases.

Sean Kennally, a member of the USC Athletics Board of Counselors who handles sales of season tickets and Galen Founders memberships, said that the costs are less than many top programs.

``I know we don't have a basketball program to be excited about yet,'' Kennally said. ``But, with the new building, coach Tim Floyd Tim Floyd (born February 25, 1954) is the current head coach of the University of Southern California men's college basketball team. Floyd is also a former head coach of several teams in both the NCAA and the NBA.  and the talent level in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , the future looks good. You wanted it. It costs money to have it.''

Another complaint is that USC reneged on its lifetime Cardinal and Gold memberships, requiring lifetime members to begin paying annual dues to keep their status. At one time, USC allowed lifetime memberships to be purchased for $10,000.

``Those people spent $10,000 30 years ago,'' Kennally said. ``That $10,000 has gone a long way. Look at inflation. John McKay There are several different notable people named John McKay:

  • John B. McKay (1922–1975), a test pilot.
