Anyone seeking definitive answers from a spring scrimmage probably isn't asking the right questions, and USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  didn't resolve any major issues during its game in front of 15,000 at the Coliseum on Sunday.

The Trojans' defense appeared quite strong stopping the run, although the top two tailbacks (LenDale White LenDale Anthony White (born December 20, 1984) is an American football running back who plays for the Tennessee Titans. He played for Norm Chow at USC, who is now the Titans' offensive coordinator. His head coach in Tennessee, Jeff Fisher, also played for the USC Trojans. , Reggie Bush Reginald "Reggie" Bush, birth name: Reginald Alfred Bush II (born March 2, 1985 in San Diego, California), nicknamed 'The Human Highlight Reel' and 'The President', alluding to President Bush, is an American football player who plays for the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. ) never carried the ball. And the offense still seems to be experimenting a bit.

``We have new coaches and a new program, so we're trying out different things,'' center Ryan Kalil Ryan Kalil (born March 29, 1985 in Corona, California, U.S.) is an American football offensive lineman for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. Pro career

said. ``It's not as much going with our game plan as just trying out different things.''

That might explain how tailback Chauncey Washington Chauncey Washington (born April 29, 1985) is a college football running back attending the University of Southern California (USC). High school career
Washington had a heralded career as an athlete at South Torrance High School.
gained just 40 yards in 20 carries, despite the offensive line being one of the team's strengths. But backup tailback Desmond Reed did his best Bush impression, with a 45-yard run and 78 yards in five carries.

a lot more. Sophomore John David Booty John David Booty (born January 3, 1985, in Shreveport, Louisiana, U.S.) is the starting quarterback of the University of Southern California (USC) football team. He is called "John David", and sometimes referred to as J.D., because his father's name is John.  completed 11 of 15 passes for 155 yards with one interception and one touchdown.

Most of Booty's completions were short, including what turned out to be a 40-yard touchdown pass to fullback David Kirtman David Kirtman (born February 12, 1983) is an American football fullback for the National Football League's Seattle Seahawks. Professional career
He was the first fullback picked in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was placed on the practice squad for the 2006 season.
. Safety Scott Ware intercepted a Booty pass for the second consecutive week.

Freshman Rocky Hinds struggled, completing just 8 of 18 passes for 79 yards. He threw two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns. Freshman safety Kevin Ellison returned the first one 45 yards and safety Ryan Ting returned his 18 yards.

USC's secondary remains a collection of walk-ons with only one scholarship cornerback, Terrell Thomas.

``Our corner play is really behind and the offense is taking advantage,'' USC coach Pete Carroll said. ``There's not much we can do about it.''

Walk-on cornerback Jerry Williams (Highland High of Palmdale) deflected three passes and made eight tackles - not bad considering he just made the team about a month ago.

``I've dreamed of playing at USC since I was 7 or 8 years old,'' Williams said. ``I was a little nervous, I never played in the Coliseum before.''

Carroll complimented Williams' play but admitted Sunday's scrimmage is a long way from actually playing in a game.

``He made a couple plays. He's just learned everything, this guy, and is doing a pretty good job,'' Carroll said. ``(The walk-ons) are a long ways from playing in a regular-season game but playing a lot more than expected.''

--Notes: USC defensive tackle Manuel Wright, who is currently out for academic reasons and might make himself available for the NFL's supplemental draft, attended the scrimmage with his parents. ... Oaks Christian of Westlake Village quarterback Jimmy Clausen was among the recruits in attendance.
