When USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  defeated Hawaii 61-32 two years ago, the most notable occurrence took place after the game, when Trojans coach Pete Carroll Peter C. Carroll (born September 15, 1951, in San Francisco, California) is the current head coach of the University of Southern California Trojans football team, having held that position since 2001.  and Warriors coach June Jones June Sheldon Jones, III (born February 19, 1953, Portland, Oregon) is an American football coach, formerly with the Atlanta Falcons and currently with the University of Hawaiʻi.  didn't shake hands at midfield.

It was considered controversial because Jones quickly motioned toward Carroll with his hand and turned away to speak to his team.

To make matters worse, it followed an earlier tape-exchange failure between the teams. Hawaii wanted two USC game tapes because the Trojans played two games - the Warriors had played only one.

Never agreeing to the amount of tapes to be shared, the teams did not exchange film. Carroll said Tuesday there's no animosity with Jones heading into Saturday's rematch.

``We just missed each other out there,'' Carroll said. ``I don't think anyone was mad at each other. I was more upset that our defense gave up all those passing yards in the fourth quarter. I don't think there's a problem.''

--Weighty matters: Tight end Dominique Byrd Dominique Byrd (born February 7, 1984 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American football tight end who plays for the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League. Early life

said he weighs 250 pounds, about 15 less than last season. He lost most of the weight after wiring shut his jaw following an altercation with wide receiver Steve Smith.

Byrd said he's finally playing at the weight former offensive coordinator Norm Chow wanted the previous three seasons.

``He used to harp on me everyday on how we had fat tight ends,'' Byrd said.

Byrd said Carroll hasn't criticized him about catching the ball with one hand yet. Last year, Carroll yelled at Byrd in a pregame walk-through about one-handed catches, before Byrd's one-handed touchdown receptions against Oregon State and Oklahoma.

Byrd said he considered purchasing an insurance policy for this season but missed the deadlines to fill out the paperwork and obtain a loan.

--Back to Cromwell: Carroll decided Tuesday morning to move today's practice back to the Cromwell Field's FieldTurf. The Trojans will practice Thursday afternoon at Howard Jones Field Howard Jones Field is the practice facility for the USC Trojans football team.
