USC FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK: KICKS HAVEN'T COME FOR DANELO.

Byline: Jill Painter Staff Writer

Kicker Mario Danelo Mario Danelo (July 3,1985 – January 6,2007) was an American college football placekicker. High school career
Danelo was an all–Los Angeles linebacker at San Pedro High School in San Pedro, California.
didn't have the chance to be the hero in USC's last-second win over Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  last weekend, but that doesn't mean Danelo wouldn't have welcomed the opportunity.

Danelo hasn't had much work in games, getting only three field goal attempts all season. While he's not complaining about his workload, he wouldn't have shied away if his number was called in South Bend South Bend, city (1990 pop. 105,511), seat of St. Joseph co., N Ind., on the great south bend of the St. Joseph River, in a farming and mint-growing region; inc. as a city 1865. .

``Of course, that's something you dream about,'' Danelo said. ``That's why I'm on the team, to kick. I'm excited to go out there and do whatever I can to help the team.''

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  has had to post second-half come-from-behind victories three of its last four games but there might not be another pressure-packed situation with the game on the line anymore. No team has had USC so close to losing and Washington (1-5) isn't expected to pose such a test, even if the game is in Seattle.

USC has such a high-powered offense that drives rarely stall, and when they do, the Trojans aren't in field-goal range. Danelo isn't at all concerned about staying sharp.

``I've kicked a lot of PATs and PATs are the same as kicking field goals,'' Danelo said. ``You're out there. I'm not worried about it.''

, backup quarterback John David Booty John David Booty (born January 3, 1985, in Shreveport, Louisiana, U.S.) is the starting quarterback of the University of Southern California (USC) football team. He is called "John David", and sometimes referred to as J.D., because his father's name is John.  could finally see extensive playing time again.

Booty, a sophomore, has played in five games but obviously didn't get in last week against Notre Dame since quarterback Matt Leinart Matthew Stephen Leinart (born May 11, 1983 in Santa Ana, California) is an American football quarterback (QB) for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He played college football for the University of Southern California Trojans, leading them to an AP national  had to go to the distance. Booty has completed nine of 17 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns.

He probably would have been the starting quarterback if Leinart opted to turn pro after his junior season, but Leinart stayed. While Booty would love to play, he understands the situation.

``It's hard because you're a competitor and you want to see yourself out there, especially with the guys you came in with in your class,'' Booty said. ``But at quarterback, it's hard to play right away at a big-time university like `SC. I've just got to be patient and wait for my time.''

Last season, Booty redshirted after bruising his right elbow in fall camp.
