USAIR NAMES ZEMPHRIA BASKIN TO DIRECT NEW STATE GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAMS

 ARLINGTON, Va., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- USAir named Zemphria Baskin, formerly director of government affairs for the Air Transport Association (ATA), to the new position of director of public affairs.
 Based at USAir's Arlington headquarters, Baskin's department will define USAir's role in state and local government and community affairs and spearhead lobbying efforts on behalf of the carrier. She will direct the public affairs activities of three regional directors based in Pittsburgh, Charlotte and Miami.
 "USAir has a vested interest in legislation and policy changes that affect our business and our customers' pocketbooks," said Patricia Goldman, senior vice president of corporate communications for USAir. "Through Ms. Baskin and her staff, we aim to keep our finger on the pulse of state and local activities across the country."
 Baskin was responsible for developing policy positions and action programs in support of airline industry objectives while at the ATA, where she held management positions for 10 years.
 Baskin earned a B.A. from the University of the Americas in Mexico City and has studied national security policy at the post-graduate level at Georgetown University. She lives in Alexandria, Va.
 USAir is one of the nation's largest air carriers with 2,504 daily departures serving 40 states and seven countries.
