USAIR ANNOUNCES NEW FREQUENT TRAVELER PROGRAM BENEFITS AS PART OF USAIR/BRITISH AIRWAYS ALLIANCE

ARLINGTON, Va., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the USAir/British Airways alliance, USAir has enhanced the USAir Frequent Traveler Program (FTP). Effective May 1, USAir FTP members in North America will receive mileage credit for all British Airways flights they take worldwide.
"Now, North American FTP members can fly anywhere in the world, anytime, on British Airways and get credit in the USAir Frequent Traveler Program," said J. Daniel Brock, USAir's vice president - marketing services. "This is a very appealing perk for our FTP members and is one of the many new customer benefits of USAir's alliance with British Ariways."
Brock noted that "this dramatically simplifies British Airways' participation in our program." While USAir FTP members currently receive credit for certain British Airways flights abroad, they must qualify under a more complex set of rules.
In addition, USAir announced today that USAir FTP members can earn double miles in their USAir accounts each time they fly British Airways on a trans-Atlantic roundtrip in Club World, First Class or on the Concorde from June 1 through Aug. 31, 1993. USAir FTP members flying in USAir business class to London from Charlotte or Baltimore/Washington International also get double miles for the same period.
Brock emphasized that "USAir frequent travelers will still be able to earn the fastest free ticket to the most destinations." USAir offers a free roundtrip domestic ticket at only 20,000 miles. No changes have been made in award levels or qualifications for Priority Gold or Priority Gold Plus, USAir's elite programs. All FTP rules continue to apply to mileage credit and award redemption.
USAir FTP members in the United Kingdom also will receive enhanced benefits, effective May 1, with eligibility to earn USAir mileage credit when they fly on British Airways using any first, business or full-coach fare.
