USACO to Distribute ebrary Book Database Products to Libraries throughout Japan.

 for the academic and educational marketplace, to distribute its book database products to libraries throughout Japan. With more than 100 library customers, USACO will help ebrary efficiently penetrate the Japanese library market, building upon its existing customer base of more than 600 libraries in 75 different countries, serving more than five million patrons. At the same time, USACO will assist ebrary with aggregating content from leading Japanese publishers and help localize lo·cal·ize

Under terms of the agreement, USACO will distribute ebrary's book databases to Japanese libraries under several different licensing models:

--Subscription Databases - Libraries may choose Academic Complete, ebrary's Growing Collection that currently includes more than 23,000 titles and continues to expand at no extra cost throughout the subscription term.  Fixed Collections in single subject areas such as Business & Economics, Computers, Engineering & Applied Science, and Science, Medicine & Allied Health, or create their own Custom Collection. All ebrary subscription databases are delivered under a simultaneous, multi-user access model.

--Perpetual Access Databases - Libraries may create and own databases of full-text books under a simultaneous, multi-user or single-user access model. Unlike most eBook products, ebrary's online books do not require check-out or check-in. When a book becomes available, the end user is immediately notified as they continue doing research in ebrary.

All ebrary databases are delivered via the ebrary Dynamic Content Platform (DCP DCP - definitional constraint programming )(TM), which features the ebrary Reader(TM) and InfoTools(TM) software. The ebrary Reader optimizes page-by-page delivery of PDF (Portable Document Format) The de facto standard for document publishing from Adobe. On the Web, there are countless brochures, data sheets, white papers and technical manuals in the PDF format.  documents, eliminating cumbersome document downloads and ensuring that any end user - regardless of bandwidth or connectivity limitations - can use the ebrary system. InfoTools provides every ebrary document with word-level interaction.
