USA TODAY Ad Track: Chrysler Eagle ads rated effective.


WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 1995--Three-quarters of the television viewers familiar with a recent Chrysler Eagle ad campaign found the ads to be effective, according to according to

National U.S. daily general-interest newspaper, the first of its kind. Launched in 1982 by Allen Neuharth, head of the Gannett newspaper chain, it reached a circulation of one million within a year and surpassed two million in the 1990s.

Of the 316 respondents most familiar with the Eagle ads, 75% said the ads were effective and 60% said they liked them. The margin of error is plus or minus 5.5 percentage points. About half of the 1,004 consumers polled said they hadn't seen the ads.

This was due to the fact that Chrysler bought commercial time on TV shows that reach higher-income audiences.

The Chrysler Eagle ads feature Chrysler spokesman Greg Kinnear Gregory Kinnear (born June 17, 1963) is an Academy Award-nominated American actor and television personality, who rose to stardom as the first host of E!'s Talk Soup.  who challenges a policeman, a motorcyclist, a woman at the beach and others to drive the Chrysler Eagle. The biker intellectualizes the car's strengths, the woman compares the ride with her just-purchased Acura Legend The Acura Legend, sold as the Honda Legend outside the U.S., Canada, and parts of China, was a sporty luxury vehicle sold from 1986 to 1995 as both a sedan and a coupe.  and the cop gets caught speeding. The ads were created by Bozell Worldwide.

The survey asks respondents whether they recall a certain campaign, if they like the campaign and how effective they feel that campaign is.
