DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1999--

New Chief Financial Officer RICK WELLER To Lead Finance Group At USA Global Link

USA Global Link, Inc. (www.usagl.com), a leading pioneer in the provision of discount international telecommunications, global Internet protocol (IP) networks and e-commerce services announced today that Rick Weller has joined the company as its Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Weller joins USA Global Link at an exciting time as the company expands its Global InterNetwork(SM), the world's first truly global IP-based telecom network. Mr. Weller comes to the company from Intek Information, Inc., where he was chief financial officer since 1997. Prior to Intek, Mr. Weller was vice president of finance for Sprint's consumer services group and assistant vice president of Sprint's business services group and its wholesale marketing group. He also served as head of Sprint's corporate-wide internal audit group. Prior to Mr. Weller's joining Sprint in 1990, he spent 10 years with Price Waterhouse.

"Rick assumes a leading position in our executive management team, responsible for all aspects of financial management of the business," says Mark Baker, CEO/President of USA Global Link. "Rick will be the driver of our new global financing strategy, tapping into the international financial markets and bringing his tremendous experience to bear on comprehensive development of the Global InterNetwork. Rick shares the USA Global Link vision and I am extremely pleased that he has accepted this exciting new challenge."

USA Global Link is currently in the first phases of deploying the Global InterNetwork's IP-based infrastructure and is developing a comprehensive marketing and organizational structure to support service offerings in 28 target countries worldwide. The Global InterNetwork infrastructure will be comprised of four major international switching centers in New York, London, Tokyo and Seattle connected by high-speed fiber-optic facilities, creating an IP-over-ATM backbone for worldwide transport of traditional narrowband and advanced broadband communications services, including new era Web-based e-commerce solutions. Initially, national and metropolitan gateways in nearly 60 cities in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas will provide local on-ramps to the Global InterNetwork's offerings. In conjunction with its technology partners 3Com, Siemens, Microsoft and Global Crossing, USA Global Link will be the first telco/Internet company in the world to deploy a global IP network on such a grand scale.

"We are all aware of Rick Weller's work and reputation in our industry as a successful driver, innovator and great achiever. Rick's addition to the `Mark Baker team' caps off a world-class industry group that has taken over 24 months to assemble. Our board is extremely proud of this group of leaders that represents some of the absolute best industry professionals from AT&T, MCI, SPRINT, US WEST and the like," says Dr. Christopher W. Hartnett, Founder and Chairman of USA Global Link. "Obviously, the challenges of the international telecom/Internet market today demand seasoned experts with many years of top-tier experience behind them and the flexibility and vision to create networks and products that are well ahead of our customers' needs. This team has the talent to accomplish and exceed our highest expectations."
