USA Digital Radio to Conduct On-Air IBOC Digital Audio Broadcast with Clear Channel's KWNR-FM.

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2000

Continuing its leadership role in bringing digital broadcasting to AM and FM radio, USA Digital Radio, Inc., a privately held technology company owned by the nation's largest broadcasters, today announced it will conduct an on-air digital audio broadcast from Las Vegas radio station KWNR-FM when the 2000 International CES opens tomorrow.

This will be the first time an on-air digital FM radio signal has been broadcast into CES.

Using USA Digital Radio's In-Band On-Channel Digital Audio Broadcast (IBOC DAB) technology, the broadcast will be transmitted from KWNR-FM's Black Mountain tower 12 miles from the Las Vegas strip The Las Vegas Strip (also known as The Strip) is a 4 mi (6.7 km) section of Las Vegas Boulevard South, most of which has been designated an All-American Road.  directly into USA Digital Radio's Booth (No. 19142) in the Digital Radio Pavilion at the Sands Convention Center. Kenwood, USA Digital Radio's development partner, will also receive the broadcast in its booth (No. N113) at the LVCC.

Using specially designed digital radio test receivers, visitors to USA Digital Radio's and Kenwood's booths will be treated to KWNR-FM's country music in a digital audio broadcast format. IBOC DAB technology is designed to give consumers superior sound quality and crystal clear reception while listening to their favorite AM and FM stations, and display new data services on a radio screen, such as song and artist identification, local traffic, weather and news, and more.
