US Navy calls ashore with VegaStream.

VegaStream, a supplier of dedicated business VoIP (Voice over IP) Gateways, has announced a contract from the US Navy to supply its Vega 50 BRI See ISDN.

VoIP Gateways to the Naval Air Warfare Center The Naval Air Warfare Center was a former U.S. Navy military installation located in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Ivyland, Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Navy purchased the grounds to establish this facility from the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation following its bankruptcy in the
Training Systems Division of US Naval Air Systems Command The Naval Air Systems Command, or NAVAIR, is the part of the United States Navy which provides materiel support for naval aircraft and airborne weapon systems, such as guided missiles. NAVAIR was established in 1966 as the successor to the Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons (BuWeps). .

In the absence of any existing VoIP gateways able to support the required North American ISDN BRI protocols, the US Navy selected VegaStream because of its ability to modify its existing ETSI-compliant Vega 50 BRI gateways that are already widely deployed in service provider and enterprise networks across Europe. With nearly 2 million ISDN BRI lines deployed in the US, the Vega 50 BRI will be the only VoIP Gateway on the market supporting both SIP and North American ISDN BRI standards.

"There are businesses and organisations across North America which, like the NAVAIR NAVAIR Naval Air Systems Command  Training Systems Division, are looking to IP-based products to not only make their existing infrastructure work better, but also help improve the way they do their jobs. We're delighted to be working with the US Navy to develop what will be the world's first VoIP gateway to support both SIP and North American BRI standards. It's a testament to both our existing product portfolio and the responsiveness of VegaStream to innovate and develop products that address today's customer requirements."

The new Vega 50 BRI VoIP gateways will be delivered to the US Naval Air Systems Command in Q2 2004 and will support required North American ISDN standards.
