 US ATTORNEY FILES CHARGES AGAINST
 PRESIDENT OF ADVANCED RESOURCE TECHNOLOGIES
BOSTON, July 23 /PRNewswire/ The U.S. Attorney's Office filed charges against the president of Advanced Resources Technologies, Inc. ("ART") for his role in an advance fee scheme which defrauded customers of approximately $140,000.
U.S. Attorney A. John Pappalardo today announced the filing of an Information charging Craig S. Clark of 25 Tower Hill Road, North Reading, Mass. with five counts of wire fraud.
The Information alleges that Clark, as President of ART, solicited down payments to secure the sale of sophisticated computer assembly equipment, but never produced the equipment and, in fact, never possessed the equipment in the first place. The Information charged that Clark advertised that he had various pieces of equipment to sell, including an Excellon Mark V Driller/Router priced to sell at approximately $70,000. Five separate companies sought to purchase the driller/router and made deposits totaling approximately $140,000. The information alleges that Clark falsely stated to the potential buyers that he owned the equipment and that he would deliver it upon his receipt of the down payment. Clark, in fact, never delivered the equipment and never returned the down payments to the buyers.
The case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan L. Kotlier of Pappalardo's Economic Crimes Unit.
