US$40 MILLION CRICKET DEAL.

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) officials, in London, have signed the biggest deal in the history of regional cricket, reports CANA (May 3, 2000). The WICB entered into an exclusive US$40 million contract with British Sky Broadcasting (BskyB) to manage its worldwide broadcast and Internet rights from 2004 to 2008. The deal guarantees the WICB a net benefit of US$25 million and will provide revenue for various ventures including the development of cricket in the Caribbean and the live broadcast of home series throughout the region.
