Byline: The Register-Guard

Oregon assistant track and field coach Dan Steele Dan Steele (born March 12, 1969) is an American bobsledder and athlete who has competed from the early 1990s to 2002. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he won the bronze medal in the four-man event at Salt Lake City in 2002.  has been promoted to the position of associate director of track and field, Oregon director of track and field Vin Lananna announced Monday.

REGIONAL ROUNDUP

Steele will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the men's and women's track and field teams.

Steele, a native of Moline, Ill., has coached the men's sprinters and hurdlers for the past five seasons as a full-time UO coach.

Doc Stewart's sweeps Challengers out of first

ROSEBURG - Doc Stewart's of Roseburg jumped on the Bi-Mart Challengers from the beginning, handing the Eugene team a 20-4 loss in the opening game of an American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  Area 4 doubleheader on Monday.

Nick Stiltner went 2-for-3 for the Challengers in the opener.

In the second game, Travis Rooke-Ley went 2-for-4 and drove in a run, but the Challengers lost 5-3.

The losses knocked the Challengers (8-6 Area 4, 27-23 overall) out of a tie for first place in Area 4 with two games remaining.
