UO moves into third behind Little.

SEATTLE - Oregon turned in the day's low round Tuesday to climb into third place after two rounds of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational women's golf tournament.

The Ducks turned in a 2-over-par 290 for a two-round total of 597, 10 strokes behind third-ranked USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  and one behind fourth-ranked Arizona State. Eighth-ranked Arizona was fourth at 601.

Ducks finish fourth at men's golf tourney

FAIRFAX, Calif. - Oregon recorded its second consecutive 7-under-par 277 on Tuesday to finish tied for fourth place at the Alister MacKenzie Alister MacKenzie (born Wakefield, Yorkshire, England, 1870; died Santa Cruz, California, 1934) was a British golf course designer. MacKenzie was taught at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield and trained as a doctor and served in the Second Boer War.  Invitational men's golf tournament.

The Ducks finished with a 16-under 836 to tie Fresno State eight strokes behind tournament champion San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  State, which closed with a 276. Oregon State compiled a 289 in the final round and tied for sixth place at 289.

Oregon's Sean Maekawa shot a 1-over 72 in the final round and tied for 12th place at 6-under 207 with Oregon State's Diego Velasquez, who also shot a 72 Tuesday. OSU's James Allenby tied for 15th at 208 after a 73, and Oregon's Joey Benedetti shot a 65 that was the day's best round and left him tied for 20th at 210.

Daryl Fathauer of Louisville, who shot a 61 in Monday's opening round, shot a 72 for a 200 total and a two-stroke victory.

JUNCTION CITY - Junction City's Dick Booth remained in first place in the Arnold Palmer Flight for men ages 68-70 Tuesday at the Oregon Golf Association's Super Senior Championship at Shadow Hills Country Club.

Booth shot a 9-over-par 81 and has a two-round 159 total and a three-stroke lead over Vern Jones of Westport, Wash., going into today's final round.

Other leaders were Jerry Cundari of Portland (men ages 65-67), Kent Myers of Lake Oswego Lake Os·we·go

Duck men stay in first, women third in XC poll

Oregon's men's cross country team remained in the No. 1 spot and the Duck women maintained the No. 3 spot in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association rankings.

The Duck men received 10 of 13 first-place votes for 385 points, followed by Wisconsin, which had one first-place vote and 327 points.

Stanford was No. 1 in the women's poll with 10 first-place votes and 387 points. Oregon had 361 points.

Willamette came back from a 2-1 deficit in games to beat Northwest Christian College Northwest Christian College is a private, liberal arts college located in Eugene, Oregon and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.  30-21, 28-30, 26-30, 30-27, 15-13 in a nonleague volleyball match Tuesday at Morse Event Center.

Melissa Bishop had 15 kills, Cotie Howard had 14 and Ashley Blanchfill added 11 for NCC (9-9 overall).
