UNITED WAY PRESENTS AWARD TO CITY WORKERS.

Lancaster and Santa Clarita city employees were rewarded recently by United Way of Greater Los Angeles for their donations to the organization.

United Way bestowed its Employee Giving Award for companies or agencies with fewer than 500 staffers to the two cities, along with two companies, Panda in the San Gabriel Valley The San Gabriel Valley is one of the principal valleys of southern California. It lies to the east of the city of Los Angeles, to the north of the Puente Hills, to the south of the San Gabriel Mountains, and to the west of the Inland Empire.  and Valero in the South Bay.

The award recognizes those with the largest number of employees contributing to United Way.

The awards came last week at the 2006 Celebration of Caring Event and Awards at the California Science Center The California Science Center (sometimes spelled California ScienCenter) is a state agency and museum located in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. Billed as the West Coast's largest hands-on science center, the California ScienCenter is a public-private partnership between the State .

United Way, an umbrella organization that funds countless charities and nonprofit groups, surpassed its annual goal of $55.5 million, achieving $56.1 million.
