 UNITED TECHNOLOGIES AUTOMOTIVE CHOOSES LOGICORP
TO DELIVER EXCLUSIVE FREIGHT LOGISTICS SERVICES
DETROIT, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- United Technologies Automotive (UTA) today announced an agreement that appoints LogiCorp, Inc. as its exclusive provider of transportation logistics services, a move that allows Dearborn, Mich.-based UTA to further pursue its core business strategies.
Under the terms of the multiple-year contract, LogiCorp, of West Bloomfield, Mich., will provide third-party logistics management of UTA's U.S.-based inbound and outbound shipments of materials, components and products.
UTA, a supplier of electrical systems and interior trim components to car and truck manufacturers worldwide, has more than 37,000 employees and posted 1991 sales of $2.1 billion. It operates more than 100 engineering, sales and manufacturing facilities in 15 states of the U.S. and in 14 nations worldwide. The company is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), based in Hartford, Conn., which provides a broad range of high-technology products and support services to the aerospace, building systems and automotive industries.
LogiCorp uses data-intensive logistics analysis to manage its shipper-clients' freight portfolios. By matching client needs and combined-volume buying influence with the best-choice solutions offered by truck, rail, air and ocean carriers worldwide, LogiCorp gives its customers an objective alternative to carrier-owned logistics companies.
The agreement with UTA is the second major contract announcement by LogiCorp this week. On Aug. 10, the company announced it had won the logistics business of Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation, the nation's third-largest truck manufacturer. LogiCorp serves manufacturers in the automotive, healthcare, furniture and industrial materials fields, either by assisting its clients' internal staff, or by providing turn- key services.
