UNITED LAUNCHES WASHINGTON, D.C.-BRUSSELS FLIGHTS JUNE 1
CHICAGO, May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The airline that's uniting the world brings together two capital cities when United Airlines launches the only non-stop service between Washington, D.C., and Brussels, Belgium, on June 1.
"With the only non-stop service between Washington and Brussels, we have forged an important link between the capital of the European Community and the capital of the United States," said Stephen M. Wolf, United chairman and chief executive officer. "Travelers and shippers in the United States will gain new trans-Atlantic service, which also will provide travelers and shippers in Belgium with tremendous access to United's global route network that spans North America, Latin America, the Pacific and Europe."
The new trans-Atlantic service between Washington and Brussels represents the fifth European city served non-stop from United's gateway at Washington Dulles International Airport. United also flies non-stop from Dulles to Frankfurt, London, Madrid and Paris. United will add two more European destinations direct from Dulles on June 20, when it inaugurates non-stop service to Milan, with continuing service to Rome.
United will offer its daily Dulles-Brussels departures in Boeing 767-200ER aircraft, designed with 10 first class, 32 Connoisseur Class and 122 coach class seats.
Eastbound, Flight 950 will depart from Washington Dulles International Airport at 6:50 p.m. and will arrive at Brussels National Airport at 8:25 a.m.
Flight 951 is the westbound service, which begins June 2 and departs from Brussels at 12:20 p.m. and arrives at Dulles at 3 p.m.
Inaugural festivities will take place on both sides of the Atlantic. At Washington Dulles on June 1, flowers will decorate international gate C3, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. At National Airport in Brussels on June 2, customers will attend a formal reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the departure satellite's private lounge at 11:15 a.m.
United has been serving Brussels from its London hub since May 1991.
